Late Bindeshwari Baghel Government College, Kumhari was established in 2021. Since it's inception the Department of Botany is fully committed to  holistic development of student by inculcating  practical skills in them.  The department offers  graduation course in Botany affiliated to Hemchand Yadav University, Durg in yearly as well as Semester  Pattern  under CBCS scheme envisioned by NEP2020.

 The department organises  a range of academic and co- curricular activities for over all development of student. The creative skills of students is encouraged by organising activities like poster presentation, chart and model making competitions, botanical quizzes and powerpoint presentations. Teaching methods include classroom lectures seminars, interactive sessions, regular practicals and field visits. Learning resources available include functional lab with basic amenities like specimens, slides , herbarium file and regular instruments.  Students are exposed to recent trends in field by encouraging them to join National / International Webinars by eminent experts.  Hands on training workshops and Guest Lectures are regular feature of the department which provide learning opportunities from subjects experts of different institutions.

 The students are  taken to  field visits so that they learn practical skills and get exposure to working  knowledge.   The students are encouraged to participate in departmental activities like flower exhibition, herbarium competition and powerpoint presentations as part of their assignments which enriches their knowledge and working proficiency.  The department plans to continue its activities and  collaborate with research institutions / departments so  that the students can get more exposure and learn practical skills.
